I hear that a treadmill for a home office is not deductable if its in or adjacent to residential facilities, even if it was purchased soly for business use such as keeping in shape in order to be able to perform the necessary job functions.

Does anybody know where to find IRS tax code on this?

I think that if a Doctor certifies that you need one for medical purposes, there might be grounds for purchase price to be included as part of the medical expenses subject to the 7.5% adjusted gross income limitation.

Clearly, the cost of the treadmill may not result in any material deduction after allowing for the AGI limitation.

I would not allow a deduction of a treadmill as a business expense for a home based business!
