What are the penalties for failure to comply with the NYS Mandates?

According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, "a $50 penalty applies to each return or extension that you fail to e-file, unless the taxpayer opts out of e-filing or you have other reasonable cause for failure to comply."

Therefore, it is imperative that taxpayers be aware of this penalty and ensure that their tax professional or CPA's comply with this mandate.
