Can I avoid late filing penalties if my 2006 partnership tax return is filed late?

I just found out that I had not mailed my 2006 Partnership Tax return on the required due date. Actually I thought I had it mailed with my other Tax returns but somehow I forgot to mail my 2006 Federal 1065.

I actually mailed it recently, but was very concerned as to what the IRS would do, would I get assessed any late filing penalties and interest, and if so, is there a way to avoid these?

Thanks a lot for your help..

GREAT WEBSITE BY THE WAY!!
