I go into my elderly parents home and help them fix meals, clean house etc. They pay me to help them. They are not set up as an employer and I do not have a business. Do I have to claim the money they pay me on my taxes?

No you do not claim the money they pay you as you are a household employee I guess aslongas you are over the age of 21yo andreceived $1.9k or more in 2014. and Household work is work done in or around their home;you need to report the money that you receive from parents on your return as wage on W2 UNLESS you are a self employer. If only you can control how the work is done, then, you are not their employee but are self-employed.as you an employee then they need to Withhold and pay social security and Medicare taxes from your paychecks and need to match 50% of fica taxes for you..
