| What are the Affordable Care Act Tax Provisions for Individuals and Families?
The Affordable Health Insurance Law requires that the taxpayer along with each member of family have qualifying health insurance, a health coverage exemption, or make a payment when the taxpayers file their tax return.
If the taxpayer, his or her spouse and dependents had health insurance coverage all year, the taxpayer can indicate this by simply checking a box on the tax return. No further action is required.
For those who purchased coverage through the Marketplace, then that taxpayer may be eligible for the premium tax credit. This is the first year that all taxpayers will have to report health coverage on your tax return.
