self employed no 1099

I work privately for a company that still hasn't given me a 1099 for 2013 let alone 2014! I contacted the accountant to get the amount I made for 2013 and claimed it without a form. I was told they are behind with filing for all their employees-can't they get fined? Should I go ahead and contact the accountant again and claim my amount made to cover myself? I've only worked here for 2 years and it seems other employees arnt claiming at all since they haven't got a 1099 but I would never do that. Advice?

Even if you don't get a 1099-MISC form, you still must report any money you received for work; The IRS wants to know about all your income. You're not likely to get caught by the IRS if you don't report $200 or $300 you got in cash for some work, but if you're ever audited and do get caught, you'll face serious penalties. Any payment you got with a check but wasn't reported to the IRS on a 1099 still can leave a paper trail for the IRS.so the company SHOULD have given you a 1099-MISC by January 31, and also submit a copy of 1099/1096 to IRS by march 31 2015. I/ but you need to file based on what the gentleman actually paid you. The IRS can fine companies that submit forms late or don't fill them out accurately.
