Can the IRS tap citizen power to police tax-evading corporations?

t sounds like an outtake from the Lives of Others or another surveillance conspiracy theory: what if you mobilized an entire country to make sure businesses paid their taxes?. According to him, the reason for that would be the work required to register the receipts with the government.

guess it is up to each jurisdiction’s measurement if it is effective/efficient ; it depends how it works. Tax auditing is a difficult /not perfectly accurate and successful and expensive process in any jurisdiction . it may( I guess more or less) work by way of collecting/remitting taxes,i..e, sales /use taxes 1099s including 1099K or etc. by making TPs as part of the process(by increasing both TPs’ compliance with paying taxes, and theirinvolvement with their satisfaction when they actually do pay).
