Angry Never had to pay tax on social security before. Why now?

My husband and I are both on Social Security Disability and have been for many years. We have both worked during that time and every year we make approximately the same amount of money. We have never had to pay taxes on our SSDI before, but this year the IRS is telling us that we have to. I don't understand why the change. Any advice?

it depends on the amount of MAGI, provisional income; for example, you need to pay tax on your SSI benefits of $23K IF the amount of your MAGI(50% of SSI plus AGI), provisional income, I mean is more than $32K. so, your MAGI is $34,500;$23000+$11500.so 50% of Soc. Sec. income($11,500)or 50% of amount your MAGI exceeds threshold($1,250) – whichever is less is included in your AGI on 1040 line 37.
