Question about Code in 12 of w2

My w2 has code 12 DD . What is it for and how does it affect my taxes. I could not find this in to the my turbotax software. Can some one help.

I had filed for my mom a green card last year. Can I deduct her GC application processing fees. She also had moved from in year Nov 2011 . I did not clain her as she did not have her green card. Since she has a green card can I deduct her moving expense.

Please advice.

thanks
A

“My w2 has code 12 DD . What is it for and how does it affect my taxes. I could not find this in to the my turbotax software. Can some one help. “================>Code 12 DD is to report to you, an EE, the cost of ER provided healthcare; reporting the cost of healthcare will enable you to be better informed about your healthcare costs and the choices available to you. As an EE, you will see in box 12 of your W-2 an amount and a Code DD. This will be the total cost of your ER provided healthcare coverage, ER and EE contributions. The key point to note is that this entry on the W-2 is not taxable income. It is not included in box 1 of the W-2 and does not need to be entered any where on your tax return. It is just information to let you know the total cost of the healthcare provided by your employer.

“I had filed for my mom a green card last year. Can I deduct her GC application processing fees.”=============>I don’t think so the green card fees are just personal expenses not deductible.

“ She also had moved from in year Nov 2011 . I did not clain her as she did not have her green card. Since she has a green card can I deduct her moving expense.”===================>You can’t deduct your mother’s moving expenses that she spent as a non resident alien in 2011 on your 2012 return. If you move to your new home to join a new job or start a business, you can deduct the Moving Expenses as an adjustment to the income. It means that you will get this deduction even if you don’t itemize your expenses. Moving expenses are figured on Form 3903 line 5 and deducted as an adjustment to income on line 26 of Form 1040NR.
