I file single and claim 0 part of the year and 1 for less of it . I was married filing separately from 2006-2010 but single for 2011 . For 2011 I owe $1800.00 . I just am not sure why ?! even the "tax pro" at H&R block said she thinks something is wrong , but can't tell me what. We even looked at my w-4 and tax with-holdings. She said that even though I had claimed 1 for a few months here and there , She didn't see why I should owe so much . She stated that I could withhold MORE , however I still feel like that is crazy ? I make about 36,000 a year and paid aprox. $2400 in taxes and am told I owe another $1800? Maybe I am just in shock since I haven't filed single in a while . . .
I do have a 401k
I do have a loan on my 401k with a balance of about 3000
I take part in an employee stock purchase plan and did recieve $300 from selling some last year .
not sure if any of this matters but , thought I'd throw it out there .
If anyone can give ANY advice , or even tell me that is correct and to man up and with-hold more earnings would be great , Thanks
