Claiming childern

I have a child in my home that is not a blood relative, but whom I take care of as my own. I do have Power Of Attorney For A Child. He belongs to a ex-boyfriend. He has lived in my home all year, and I take care of him in every aspect of life, with no help financially from anybody. Nobody else will be claiming him except me. The child is 6 years old. My question is, do I claim him as my son, grandchild, or what?

Yes; as you said, the child has lived with you for the whole year and you have provided more than half of the child;s support; then yes you can claim the child on your return as a qualifying nonrelative ; I can determine that your boyfriend is NOT eligible to claim hischild as a dependent due to the fact that he has NOT lived with the child for more than half of the year and he has NOT provided more than half of the child?s support for the year.
