Student Loan Question

A bit complicated. My daughter and her husband are serving as urban missionaries with little income. Their missionary board and oversight group is a registered 501c3. I pay all of her student loans currently and would like to know if there is any way to claim those payments as a donation to them as missionaries. This is how I support their mission work. Thank you.

Sorry I do not think so; Student loan interest is not an itemized deduction line item, but rather a deductin on the face of your tax return. For Charitable donation, to be deductible on your return, it should be necessarily itemized deductions on Sch A , if not itemized , then you can never deduct it.however,. although the annual deduction limit is subject to change, in 2015 you can deduct up to $2,500 of student loan interest payments as an adjustment to income intead of being itemized.
