I am interested in knowing whether I need to pay any US taxes and if so what I can do to reduce the amount that I do need to pay.

yesas a us national/us citizen, us resident , a green card holder, you need o pay tax to irs on your us source and world wide income that you earn. i guess you also need to pa tax to a state as a non-resident of the state. you may claim taxes paid to uk taxing authority(ies) on your US return on 1040 or by itemizng them on SCh A of 1040.
