retired with a dependent child

My parents are retired & on social security, my dad receives a pension of about $50/month, they are both in their 70's, and caring for their grandchild. My question is do they qualify for the child tax credit and Earned Income Credit since they are claiming the grandson. If so, which forms will they need to use? Please help...

sorry no; because their soc sec benefits are not earned income; To be eligible for the earned income credit, they need earned income,i.e., wages/salaries, commissions or etc. Periodic public payments such as Social Security benefits are not earned income.
