Tax comparison & paycheck in NJ vs NY (Resident alien)

Hi friends

I am planning on a move to NYC because of my job relocation. I am a postdoctoral researcher and my complete package per year is 47k (Science dudes are paid less at this stage). I have an unemployed wife and a 2 years kid. I on J1 visa and I file my taxes as a resident alien, married and use 3 exemptions for my taxes.

Out the following scenarios, which one will save me more money?
Scenario 1: Living in Journal Square, NJ, & Working in NYC
Scenario 2: Living in Jamaica & Working in NYC

Also, how the taxes will work out in the first scenario? Will I have to pay separate city taxes to NJ?

What will be my monthly paycheck after all the withholdings? (a rough amount will also do, I am planning on saving 10% in my 401K).

Your suggestions will be a great help.
