Claiming my fiance and baby?

Hello, I grossed $5900.00 and my fiance grossed $2500.00. Can I claim my fiance and daughter? OR Will my fiance have to file with what little money she grossed? We usually file seperate, but we want to maximize our refund. What is the best way for us to file? Take Care!

“I grossed $5900.00 and my fiance grossed $2500.00. Can I claim my fiance and daughter?”-To claim your daughter as your dependent, your baby must have lived with you for more than half the year( your finance must have lived with you for the whole year as qualifying nonrelative), the person must have the same residence as you do; the person ( your daughter/ your fiancé)did not provide more than half of his or her own support during the year.Your fiancée’s gross income should be less than $3700 for 2011; you need to provide more than half of the dependent's total support during the year.
“ OR Will my fiance have to file with what little money she grossed?”--->No; unless she has gross income ,$9500 or higher, for 2011, she doesn’t need to file her return; however, she should file to get money back if Federal Income Tax was withheld from her pay for refund.
“ We usually file seperate,”---->Correct; as you are not a married couple; only married couple can file jointly, MFJ/MFS.
“ but we want to maximize our refund. What is the best way for us to file?”---->You , like your fiancée, actually do not have to file your return for 2011 since your gross income is less than $9,500 in 2011;however, many people will file a 2011 Federal income tax return even though the income on the return was below the filing requirement. Aslong as you have Federal taxes withheld from your wages for this tax year and wish to get a refund back from the IRS, then, you need to file your return.
