are vitamins tax deductable?

If the doctor tells you that you are deficient, are the necessary vitamins able to be deducted?

“If the doctor tells you that you are deficient, are the necessary vitamins able to be deducted?”----> Sorry, no; food and over-the-counter medicines, including vitamins and herbal supplements, are not tax deductible. Medical care expenses must be primarily to alleviate or prevent a physical or mental defect or illness. They do not include expenses that are merely beneficial to general health, such as vitamins or a vacation.

Unless you got an actual prescription and got them from a pharmacy (which you can btw) then no they do not count.
