Is rent paid to parents from disabled child's ssi money considered income for the parents?

19 year old disabled child living with parents pays them a portion of SSI money each month as rent. Do the parents need to report this as income? The child has no other source of money and parents pay for more than 50% of child's expenses. According to IRS publication child meets criteria to be considered a dependent.
Parents need to know if they need to declare the rent as income on Schedule E.
Please advise.
