1 guy pays another guy. 1099?

I'm an individual who is setting a website up for a friend and will maintain that website thru the year. They are paying me by check $1000 per month for 12 months.

The check is written to me (my name).

Do I need to receive a 1099 form from them?

I've been searching for an answer to this in threads for hours and my searches always return responses based on a company paying someone......or a company being paid.

Not just a person paying a person.

thanks for any clarification.
