FL sales tax on home improvement?

I(homeowner) will be buying a metal roof. It will be permanently attached to my home. This is a real properly improvement. I will be getting a permit for the installation. Some quotes that I have received include FL sales tax, others dont. These written quotes are parts only from FL manufacturers. Does the law require me to pay FL sales tax? If it does, is there a legal way to perform this transaction to avoid paying this tax?

What is the law on this?

thanks,
paul

Does the law require me to pay FL sales tax?===> There is no personal income tax in Florida.Basically, a sales tax is a tax paid to a governing body for the sales of certain goods and services. Usually laws allow / require the seller to collect funds for the tax from the consumer at the point of purchase. When a tax on goods or services is paid to a governing body directly by a consumer, it is usually called a use tax.

you owe use tax if you buy taxable item and do n ot pay sales tax to FL dept of Rev. The best way is to contact FL Dept of Rev;

If it does, is there a legal way to perform this transaction to avoid paying this tax?====> I guess it depends; Often laws provide for the exemption of certain goods or services from sales and use tax. I am not sure what they do in FL state.Some , not all of the 501C3 nonprofit organizations, if they meet requirements, are exempt from sales/use tax.

What is the law on this?========>> As a general rule, if tangible personal property is purchased in Florida, it is taxable unless an exemption applies.
However, Florida law permits an exemption of purchases made by an exempt entity if the purchase is used in carrying on its nonprofit or exempt purpose
so as mentioned, you need to contact the dept of Rev of FL for more accurate info in detail.
