1099-misc for collections

Hi, I received a 1099-misc for a collections lawsuit that was dismissed. The company that sued had to pay my lawyer fees, but I didn't receive any money. The lawyer received a 1099 for both him and I for his lawyer fees. Do I need to file my 1099 or is there another form that I can do since I didn't receive any money.

You are probably not going to think this is helpful, but you will need to talk to a tax attorney. This gets into questions as to whether you were responsible for paying your lawyer and were discharged of that liability, resulting in cancellation of debt income, etc.
