Transferring assets into Self Directed IRA

Hello -

I invested in one real estate development project with my after-tax money. The investment was made into the LLC that the project developer created. I own 100 shares of the LLC.

Due to personal situation, I need cash and the investment that I have in the LLC is not liquid.

Can I open a self-directed IRA and transfer/buy the LLC shares into it and get cash out?

Thanks.
