Request for Information: Pending Status

So after some headache and 8 weeks I received a letter stating that my paper return was missing a signature and they needed me to send/fax in a document to correct it.

When I dropped off the paper return at the local IRS office the clerk mentioned that I needed to sign it and to just sign anywhere at the bottom of the paper, which i did sign and date (although I now realize its outside of the designated signature box).

After 2 calls to the IRS they are stating that the return has moved from Rejected to "pending" having all the required information and that the return would process within 2 weeks (10 business days). Mind you, this is just 2-3 days after they mailed out the request for information and the return was previously in the rejection state)

What should I do here? Should I wait it out or fax in the requested document to be safe? What are the odds they reviewed my return and are just accepting it with the signature and date slightly out of place?
