Dependant

I lived in the father of my childs fathers house. His dad owns several homes and we lived there rent free. I worked fulltime as did he however i solely took to childcare - paid for clothes - food- any and all expenses to do with child.
I am now moved out and we has agreed i claim child . he hid her social from me and claimed her (mine came back rejected)
is there anything I can do

If you feel that you are entitled to claim the child then you can file your return on paper claiming the child, and let the IRS sort it out.

The IRS will allow the parent who lived with the child the most number of nights to claim the child. If the number of nights were equal, then the exemption goes to the parent with the most income. Who supported the child either with housing or other expenses is not part of the determination.

Yes, there's something you can do. Mail or fax a letter to the IRS proving you provided more than half of your child's support, your child lived with you for more than half of the year, and you are indeed the child's parent. Make sure to include documentation and proof of these statements. Once the IRS receives this - they will more than likely choose to give the taxpayer who has provided the most proof the dependent exemption and credits.
