Child care dependent expenses - married filed seapartely - how to amend it Hello IRS Tax Advisor,
I am married and filed taxes separately for me and my spouse. I claimed child and dependent care expenses on my tax return. We got email from IRS saying " we didn't allow the amount claimed as child and dependent care expenses on page 2 of your tax return. You're not eligible to claim child and dependent care expenses because your filing status is Married/Filing Separately. However, you may be eligible for the child and dependent care credit if your filing status is single, married filing joints, head of household or qualifying widower with a dependent child"
I owe IRS now around $200. At this point, can I file amended tax return - married filing jointly? or do I have to file it next year paying the money for IRS I owe now?
Please suggest me what are the options I have?
Thanks,
