Is This a Legal Deduction?

I've heard of this: Let's say I donate $10,000 worth of basketball tickets to a non-profit. Then, I write them a check for $10,000, and they write a check back to me for $10,000. Thus I have a $10,000 cash donation to deduct. Is this legal?
