Texas Community Income

Hi I got married last May, and we are going to file Married - Separately. The question that is coming up is since Texas is a community state and if your married on the last day of the year, then your considered married for the whole year. Does this mean that income I earned before we were married is evenly split 50/50 on our tax returns? For example W-2 wages or self employment income.
Can we agree to something other than a 50/50 split? My wife doesn't think she should pay taxes on money that I made before we got married.
