College Books

My high school daughter took several college courses this year instead of taking AP courses at her high school. She is a dependent to my wife and I and we file our return jointly. Trying to figure out if we can deduct her book fees without it having an negative effects to future education related credits. I think if I understand it correctly that the American Opportunity credit can only be taken for 4 years so the books are only a few hundred dollars so I want to make sure I understand if a credit is taken this year if it will effect anything in the future. If taken this year, what form is used and where on the 1040 would the amount be indicated? Also, if a book was purchased in 2014, but is for a class that only started in 2015, what year would this book be able to be deducted (if applicable)?
