lump backpay question

Hi,

I received a lump sum backpay from Metlife in 2013 which covered 2012 and 2013. Combine that with a partial year of SSDI my earned income has gone from barely anything to in the early 60k. So now my tax bill is outrageous. So here is my question:

Can i ask metlife to send me amended w2 to break the lump sum up or am i screwed?

I guess needles to say you directly need to Metlife if the option is available; it is up to Metlife
