PTIN Requirement

I have prepared the final tax return for my deceased aunt. I will also be prepaing the 1041 and K1s for the estate. I am also an heir of the estate. I will be paid to complete these returns. As a related party to the deceased and the estate, am I required to obtain a PTIN? I have been advised that it is not necessary for me to sign the returns and that a PTIN isn't needed. I do not want to risk my good standing. I will not be preparing any tax returns for compensation going forward.
