Arrow Stock Options

I purchased in 2012 a call option that expired in Jan 2013 (Leaps). The option expired worthless. Do I claim loss in 2013 or 2012?

On another note, if an employer-issued stock option expired with out being exercised (foolishness) is there any chance it can be reported as a loss?
