Do I need check numbers for deposits

I started a business last fall a personal chef. I was trying to keep my head above water, and did not write down the check numbers the clients payed me with before depositing them into my business checking account. I have my bank statements. Is that enough, or do I have to humble myself and ask my clients for them? Thanks
