NJ vs. NY S Corp

Hi. I'm a film director/editor who lives in New Jersey but the vast majority of my work is done in New York (and LA and CA). I want to set up an S Corp for tax and legal reasons. Would I be better off incorporating in NJ (where I reside) or in NY (where I most often work)? I've heard conflicting things regarding prohibitive fees, franchise tax, etc.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
