Multiple States...Which W2s go to which state?

Ok, in 2009 I lived in Georgia, moved to North Carolina and worked in South Carolina. My wife worked in Georgia and North Carolina. My wife received W2s for Georgia and North Carolina, and I received W2s from Georgia (my old job final check in Jan) and South Carolina.

My question is who should get W2s? The reason I ask is I don't have enough to go around.

Wait a minute are you not efiling your tax return? If so, you do not need to worry about sending any W-2's to any States! But, if on the other hand, you are paper filing, then, your W-2's should go to Georgia and South Carolina, and your Wife's W-2 should go to Georgia and North Carolina.

But, I think if you are really paper filing why not make copies of all the W-2's and attach copies of all the W-2's to all the Tax Returns. Thus, in this way, you would not get any notices from any of the States demanding copies of W-2's. Just a thought!

Well I was going to file on paper for NC and GA, but I am definitely reconsidering. As for SC I have to file on paper because I am a nonresident.

So copies are acceptable if I file on paper?

As for filing on South Carolina on Paper, what W2s should go to them. There is only 1 W2 that has SC taxes the rest are NC and GA.

Ok, for South Carolina then, only include the W-2 that has SC Income and SC Taxes withheld.

Secondly can you e-file your state taxes separately from your federal? We have already submitted our federal.
