| In a bit of an odd duck situation, don't even know how to start asking Google Hello All,
So, my ex and I married in April of 08. We have one child, born 08/07. Divorced 11/13. We have joint legal and physical custody, he maintains he is the 'custodial' parent. Our son does spend slightly more time at his dad's than with me. (6 weeks or less over the year.)
I am an independent contractor and will receive a 1099. I have never done this before and Im SUPER DUPER FREAKED OUT. I was hoping to claim the boy, but the ex is being a buttmunch.
Here's the odd duck bits. Ex lives in a place which is a 501(d) non profit organization. When he files, he will claim corporate dividends, not wages. He will file Single, not Head of Household, and does not qualify for any credits.
The idea that he and I could 'split' our son, for tax reasons, has been intimated, but I can't seem to find any way to determine, once and for all, if that's something I can do in my situation or not.
Anyone have any help? |
