Help...help...help...

Hello there to all. I need to file some previous years tax returns. In doing so, I would like to(and qualify per IRS guidelines) to claim my daughter as a dependant and use Head of household status. Here is the problem, I am not in any kind of speaking terms/trust with my daughters mother and i would like to find out if/what years the mother claimed daughter, so as I do not "double-claim" her and cause problems. I tried to go through IRS, but recieved "confidentiality problems....". All I want is a "yes or no" type answer
to specific years. Anyone know how to do this? Is there a IRS form? Do I need to attain a lawyer to have information petitioned? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. If more info is needed to clarify, just ask!!!
Thanks,
Stressed out Dad
