| What is the lastest time to file to qualify for the tax rebate?
The IRS encourages everyone to file by the normal April 15 tax deadline. Clearly, the sooner a taxpayer file's his or her 2007 tax return the sooner they can expect to receive their stimulus payment.
The IRS has stated that if a taxpayer has "obtained a valid six-month extension to file, filing by Oct. 15 means the IRS can process your return and issue a stimulus payment before the end of the year."
This is the only information available so far, and it is not clear if the refunds would be processed after that date, although I suspect the IRS will generally process the refunds but the refund checks would be delayed considerably if the tax return is filed after Oct. 15, 2008.
Hopefully, your wife will receive her TIN# prior to Oct 15 and that you will be able to file the tax return by Oct 15, 2008. |
