I'm a bit confused on how to share itemized deductions when filing married separately. I want to see if we can reduce our taxes if my wife and I file Married filing separate. If, for example we have a 15,000 deduction for mortgage interest, can we both claim the 15,000 or must that amount be divided up where we would each claim 7,500.
