Can my parent apply for Medicare Part B Benefits at Age 64?

As such, your Mother cannot legally receive Medicare until she has reached Age 65. Since it appears that she is a a recipient of Social Security benefits, as soon as she becomes eligible, she will be automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.

For your information, Medicare Part A covers for hospital visits, whereas Medicare Part B covers for Outpatient visits.

The cost at moment for the Standard Medicare Part B premium is $96.40 in 2008. This amount will be automatically deducted from your Mothers "monthly Social Security benefit."

So, in short, you do not have to worry about both the application of and seeking how to make a payment for the Medicare Part B benefits, its all done automatically for you.
